Our Story
In 1927, William L. Johnston Sr. and his wife, Adeline, opened a little service station on the corner of State Road and Cedar Avenue in Croydon. After returning from WWII, their son Bill and his wife Florence took over the business. Bill enjoyed hunting so he incorporated a Sporting Goods inventory into the business. Larry, the second son of Bill and Florence, took over the business with his wife Kathy. Together they ran the business until Larry passed away in 2003. Over the next handful of years it was decided to withdraw from the Auto Parts industry and concentrate solely on the Sporting Goods industry. In 2012 Johnston’s Sporting Goods was born. Today Johnston’s is run by Larry and Kathy’s daughter, Patti along with her husband and four sons.

The Johnston business is nearing its’ 100th year. That is such an amazing feat and we are so very proud to be the 4th and 5th generation serving our community. Johnston’s is open 7 days a week and is dedicated to providing the best customer service to everyone. We are proud to offer a huge selection of firearms, ammunition and accessories. There are hundreds of firearms on display as well as hundreds of cases of bulk ammunition. Stop in and take a look! There is so much to see here but if you don’t see it, just ask! If we are able to get it for you…we will!
